Obituary of John C. Kraemer

John Christian Kraemer, age 80, passed away on June 6, 2022. “Jack” as he was affectionately known and called by his numerous soccer teammates within the St. Paul and Minneapolis soccer communities, enjoyed life to the fullest on his terms with no regrets or compromises. Born in Germany, he immigrated to the United States at the age of 14, learned the English language, obtained formal education, served in the United States Army, became an engineer with 3M and was successful in being issued two U.S. patents in his name. He was lucky to have been able to retire from 3M early at the age of 55. In addition to his immediate family, John adored and loved on his granddaughters, Meadow and Abigail, and made it a point to try to attend their dance and softball activities in Iowa and to show them how cool Grandpas can be. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother. John is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Colleen, son John Kraemer Jr. (Gretchen), daughter Karla Kraemer, granddaughters Meadow and Abigail Kraemer, a sister, numerous friends and family in the U.S. and Germany, and two Swiss Bernese Mountain grand-dogs, Sofia and Klaus, who shared a special European bond with John. An informal Celebration of Life gathering for family and friends will be held at a later date.
