Obituary of Steven Scott Bendeich

Steven Scott Bendeich, age 26, was born on July 11, 1997 in St. Paul, MN, and died by suicide on December 24, 2023, in Bloomington, MN.

Steven was a loving son, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed by his parents Stacy (Tim) Blakely and Mark (Lindsay) Bendeich, his siblings Sarah (Jonathan) Neuser, Andrew Neuser, Leah (Shane) Collins, David Neuser, Kristina (John) Cherne, and Elizabeth (Matthew) Livingston, his grandparents Carl Bendeich and Lawrence Smith, as well as other loving aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and the friends that he considered family.

Steven attended Eagan High School and the School of Environmental Studies (SES) for his high school education. He then served in the United States Marine Corps from 2015-2019. Despite the challenges of the Marine Corps culture, Steven was proud to be a United States Marine, and most importantly of his accomplishments working as a Helicopter Mechanic. After discharge, he continued his career as a helicopter mechanic at a private organization in San Diego, CA.

Those who knew Steven, loved him easily. Despite struggling with his own depression, he was always available for friends in their times of need to provide a laugh, be near, and/or to share a meme. He found comfort in snuggling dogs, reading excessively long novels, playing video games, and being with friends.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at First Evangelical Free Church (5150 Chicago Ave, MPLS 55417). Visitation will begin at 9 am, followed by a service at 11:00 am. Afterwards, all are welcome to attend Steven’s Military Funeral Honors and Committal Service at Fort Snelling National Cemetery; please arrive promptly at 12:45pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Steven's memory can be made to organizations with missions that he held dear or that may prevent tragic deaths for tender hearted people like him. He often visited the Humane Society of Southern Arizona (HSSA) to visit his sister at work (but mostly because he had a great love for cute pups and chonky cats), so consider making a donation to HSSA (http://www.hssaz.org/donate) or to your local animal shelter in his memory. Additionally, contributions can be made to mental health foundations for veterans and young people, such as The Wounded Warrior Project or the Jed Project.

Twin Cities Cremation is honored to assist Steven’s family during this difficult time.
