Obituary of Lois Anne Dillon-Belrose

LOIS DILLON-BELROSE October 28, 1927 – May 24, 2023

Lois Anne Dillon-Belrose, age 95, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2023, at her granddaughter’s home in Zimmerman MN, with her granddaughter Michelle, by her side.

She was born on October 28, 1927, in St Paul, Minnesota and was the daughter of the late William and Anna Fashing (nee Osen). Lois’s mother passed away when she and her sister Florence were 5 and 2 respectively and was raised by her father and stepmother Veronica Fashing (nee O’Donnell) adding 3 more siblings William Jr, John and Patricia.

Lois graduated high school from St Joseph’s Academy in St. Paul. She met future husband Edward Dillon at a high school dance. They were married after high school on June 21, 1947 at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church in St. Paul. They had 3 children, Mary Anne, Kathleen and David. Lois obtained her beauticians license following in her grandmother and father’s footsteps. She was employed at Stella’s near Cretin and Randolph and at Ruby and Ruth’s on Grand Ave before opening her own shop in her home in which she was very proud. She worked until she was 80 years old when her last customer passed away. Lois and Ed shared 42 years of marriage before he passed away in 1989.

In her free time, Lois enjoyed gardening, bird watching, rock collecting, traveling, card club and spending time with her family. She was a devoted member of her church, where she volunteered her time and talents.

With her love of dancing, Lois also met her 2nd husband Frank R. Belrose at a dance and on August 23, 1992 they were also married at Nativity of Our Lord. They enjoyed volunteer work, grandchildren, traveling, visiting various casinos and Lois enjoyed assisting Frank with his magic shows for children and enveloping Franks’ children Todd, Tyler and Carter and their families into the fold. They enjoyed 25 years of marriage before Frank passed way in 2017.

Lois moved to New Perspectives in Prior Lake, MN shortly after Franks passing. She enjoyed being active in all facility activities and the new friends she made while living there until her passing.

Lois will be forever missed by children, Mary Anne Burns, St Paul, Kathleen (Larry) Nieman, Casa Grande AZ, David and Connie Dillon, Prior Lake, stepsons, Todd (Gianna) Belrose, Florida, and Carter (Margaret) Belrose, Duluth, MN; grandchildren, Michelle (Paul) Canterbury, Rebecca Bedner, Sarah Skillings, Paul (Loli) Dillon, Elizabeth (Dustin) Julius, Sam Clarke, John Dillon, Madison, Nicholas and Gabriella Belrose; greatgrandchildren Justin Canterbury, Kaydon Skillings, Lauren, Henry, Leah and Howard Julius and Autumn Dillon. Also survived by sisters Florence Stafford, Crystal City MO, Patricia Stuelpnagel, Denver CO, sisters-in-law Sharon Fashing, El Paso TX, and Carol Fashing, Mt Hood OR and special friend Jake Pfleiger, Prior Lake, MN and many nieces and nephews.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Edward Dillon and Frank Belrose, brothers John and William Fashing, brother-in-law John Stuelpnagel, grandson Robert Burns Jr and stepson Tyler Belrose.

Funeral Service will be Wednesday July 12th, 2023 at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, 4741 Bald Eagle Avenue, White Bear Lake, MN 55110. Visitation 10:00-11:00 Mass 11:00.

Internment follows at St Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Stillwater St, White Bear Lake, MN 55115.

Luncheon follows at Rudy’s Redeye Grill 4940, State Highway 61, White Bear Lake, MN 55110.
