Obituary of Michael Bardin Smith

Michael Bardin Smith was born on August 18, 1947, in Alexandria, Virginia, to Alexander and Martha (Bardin) Smith. Michael was a Biblical Greek Scholar, teacher, and an Army veteran. He graduated prep school from Ascension Academy and went on to earn a higher education degree from the University of Dayton in Ohio. Michael was an avid learner with many hobbies, including being an ARRL (ham radio) Member (call sign N0WDM), photography, playing the ukulele, and long-distance bicycling. He enjoyed studying languages such as Biblical Greek and Spanish. He was a proud and loving supporter of his 7 grandchildren's interests and hobbies.

Michael was a man of deep faith and worshipped at Eden Prairie Assembly of God. He had a fierce love for his wife, Madeleine (Maddy), and was a loving father to his children, Charles (Bobie) Smith, Jennifer Smith, Andrew (Carrie) St. James, and Sara (Jason) Zotz. Michael had a talent for storytelling and was known for his humor and love of ukulele music. He was an ardent Biblical scholar.

Michael passed away on June 5, 2023, in Saint Louis Park, Minnesota due to complications from pneumonia. Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Alexander and Martha Smith, his brother, Alexander Smith Jr., and his sister, Sherrie Ralls. He is survived by his wife, Madeleine St. James, his children, and his grandchildren.

A visitation will be held Saturday, June 10th at 1:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 PM at Eden Prairie Assembly of God Church 16591 Duck Lake Trl, Eden Prairie, MN 55346. Dress for the event will be casual.
