Obituary of Diane Elizabeth ziegler

Diane Ziegler (nee Carigiet), age 56, passed away peacefully February 1, 2024 surrounded by family after a long, brave, and courageous battle with metastic breast cancer.

Diane worked at Bremer Bank for 15 years until her diagnosis in November 2017. She never gave up hope and always had a positive outlook on life. Diane loved her cats Dale, Sadie and Hope more than anything else in this world. They not only brought her joy and laughter, but comfort on her toughest days. Her daughter Melissa, who was her everything, stayed by her side the entire journey not only as her caregver but as her confident, her rock, and her best friend.

Diane is preceded in death by parents Martin and Janet Carigiet and brother in-law Steve Steinkraus. She is survived by daughter Melissa Gibson, husband John, siblings Debbie Ballard (Sid), Sandy Steinkraus, Lynn Carigiet, Laura (Dan) D’Aloia, and Tony Carigiet.

“All the pain, I get to leave it. It’s time for me to get my healing. Don’t you cry for me, ‘cause I’m in God’s glory. And I can see His face, it’s amazing. I know you have doubts, but I see it right now I promise it’s real, keep praying. I’ll be waiting, take your time and go write a story that you can’t wait to tell me. On the other side.” - Lauren Alaina

Special thanks to all staff at the Woodwinds Cancer Center, especially to Dr. Thaw who never gave up on her.

At Diane’s request, no public service will be held. In lieu of a funeral service and to honor Diane’s fight, we ask all those willing to make a donation to Metavivor in her name to fund research and advancements in treatment of MBC. She always hoped for a cure for Metastatic Breast Cancer but knew one wouldn’t come in her lifetime.
