Drena "Dee" Poole

Obituary of Drena "Dee" Elizabeth Poole

Drena "Dee" Elizabeth Poole, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, neice, cousin, and lifelong servant of humanity, passed away on May 15, 2023. Born on September 23, 1966, in Nashville, Tennessee, Dee lived a life of service, impacting countless lives and inspiring all who knew her.

Dee was preceded in death by her loving husband of 22 years, Randy Poole Sr., and her son, Ray Poole. She leaves behind a rich legacy, embodied in her surviving children: Ann Nyakundi (Dickens), Randy Poole Jr., and Krystal Blonigen (Tony). Her memory will live on through her beautiful, treasured grandchildren, Lydia, Mesias, Meena, Luke, and twins Bella and Baron.

An alumnus of Baker's College, Jackson, Michigan, Dee dedicated more than 30 years of her life to serving urban and rural communities in Benton Harbor and Jackson, Michigan. Her commitment was a testament to her profound love for people, particularly those in need. Whether through her work with various nonprofits or the National Christian Youth Conference, Dee's contributions were invaluable.

Known for her unwavering belief that small acts of kindness could indeed make the world go round, Dee was a beacon of hope and positivity. She radiated resilience, becoming a role model for the most vulnerable among us. On more than one occasion she gave to strangers in need. The kind of person who would demand we all stop to help a stranger in need. Her indomitable spirit and boundless compassion left an enduring legacy that will continue to inspire future generations.

Dee's life was a testament to the power of service, love, perseverance, and ultimately forgiveness. Her memory will forever be etched in the hearts of her family, friends, and the countless lives she touched. Her final days were spent with her family where she felt loved, cared for, and knew her legacy would live on.

Arrangements have been made according to her wishes. A close family and friends viewing was held on May 17th where she laid peacefully and beautifully like a celestial spirit. Details regarding a celebration of life service will be shared at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations or community service be made to the service organizations Dee was passionate about, continuing her legacy of kindness and community service. Please, volunteer for a shelter, help a stranger in need, and above all - practice forgiveness, love one another, and be at peace.

"But to labor with zest, and to give of your best,

For the sweetness and joy of the giving;

To help folks along with a hand and a song;

Why, there's the real sunshine of living." -- Bard of the Yukon
