Shirley Ruth Foltz Homan was born on June 3rd, 1950 in Miles City, MT, the daughter of Lynn S Foltz & Wilma J (Newman) Foltz. She grew up in Wyola and Rosebud Creek then moved to Sidney, MT when she was in 4th grade. After graduating high school Shirley moved to Thief River Falls, MN with her husband Rick Bruggeman and daughter Shelly (Bruggeman) Maki. While living in Thief River Falls, she worked as a nursing assistant at the hospital and at Artic Cat. In 1976 she moved to the Twin Cities and continued to work at Artic. In an effort to expand her knowledge she sought her Associates Degree which allowed her to work in management at various companies serving customers. Shirley knew she had more to offer the world and went back to school to receive her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work at age 50. One of her proudest accomplishments was owning her own business as a professional Guardian & Conservator (Fiduciary) where she touched countless lives. Shirley was honored to have volunteered with the Red Cross in New York City after the tragedy of 9/11. She also volunteered at church, nursing homes, and various other organizations throughout the years. She was currently serving on the funeral lunch team 5 at St Stephen’s Catholic Church. Shirley loved to travel and explore, she made it to 48 of the 50 states. In retirement Shirley & Bob spent their winters in Case Grande, AZ. She loved to compete in mahjong and shuffleboard. Shirley had a great love of music, flowers, birds, butterflies, and cherry ice cream! Family was especially important to Shirley. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was always there to support them during their life events and activities. Shirley also loved her friends. She was always ready to go somewhere and do something if it involved spending time with the people she cared about. Shirley is survived by her husband of 21 years (together 26 years), Bob Homan of Coon Rapids, MN, daughter Shelly (Brian) Maki of Ramsey, MN, grandchildren Briana Maki and Sierra Maki, Bob's children David Homan and Eric Homan; siblings Jean (Harlen) Frenzel of Williston, ND; Chuck (Jean) Foltz of Erhard, ND; Bonnie (Darrell) Rogness of Billings, MT; and Lena (Stuart) Neer of Sidney, MT.
