Obituary of Makayla "Kayla" Lynn Lewis

Makayla “Kayla” Lynn Lewis, 32, of Woodbury, MN, passed away suddenly February 9, 2022. Kayla was born October 13, 1989, to Rochelle and Brian Lewis. Growing up, Kayla loved spending time with friends, listening to music, and getting into just enough trouble. She was beautifully quirky and had a sharp wit – and could also be frustratingly stubborn and determined. Kayla had her children Kody (14) and Bennett (7) young, and embraced motherhood. She was happiest with her kids, pulling pranks and being silly. She enjoyed board games and fishing at the lake with the family. In 2016, while raising her babies, she graduated college with a paralegal degree. Kayla worked hard, established a career in purchasing, and was immensely proud to be out-earning her big sisters. Kayla loved to make things, and to make things better. She gifted her creations to her loved ones, often without cause to celebrate. She loved haunted and abandoned places, and would plan travel around exploring as many oddities as possible. Kayla was a bright spot, and she will be deeply missed. She is survived by her sons, Kody and Bennett Aikens; her father, Brian; sisters, Jolene Erickson (husband Jay and daughter Emma) and Tanya Beck (husband Jon and child Kai); and many close friends and loved ones. Her mother, Rochelle, preceded her in death. A celebration of life will be held for Makayla and Rochelle 2 p.m.-6 p.m. April 3, 2022, at Sweeney’s, 96 Dale St N, St. Paul, MN. In lieu of flowers, anyone who wishes to honor Kayla is requested to make a contribution to her children via their father, Spencer Aikens.
