Obituary of Luverne Joel Bennett

Luverne Joel Bennett, (Lu) 75, of

Oakdale, passed away on April 4 following complications from heart disease.

Lu was born on June 17,1948  Red Wing, MN. He graduated from Hastings High School class of 1966. Joined the Navy in 1969 served two years with a honorable discharge as petty officer, third class.  He went on to study electrical engineering, University of Minnesota class of 1975. MBA University Saint Thomas class of 1979. 

Lu enjoyed many activities such as bowling, card playing,and golfing. He had a love for trains and coin collecting. Lu enjoyed being the handyman fixing anything from broken items to household repairs.There never seemed to be enough hours in the day to get things done but he got to it eventually. He was proud to serve his country and loved sharing stories and experiences with other service men and women. 

Lu worked many years for 3M. His work even took him to Japan many times and he even shared a trip to Japan with his family. He retired from 3M, Imation and CareStream Health after over 25 years of service. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Michele who he has been married to for 46 years; his children Richard Bennett and Kristina (Dan) Teeter and grandchildren AJ Bennett, Hannah Bennett, and Sophia Teeter: his brother Ken Bennett and sister Charlotte Ayers..

Preceded in death by parents Robert and Margaret, and brother LeeRoy Bennett.  

Private family interment where he will lay to rest,  at Fort Snelling National Cemetery
