Elizabeth “Betty” (Darveaux) Bahl

Age 88, passed away February 6, 2018 in Hastings, MN.

Proceeded in death by husband, Frank Bahl; granddaughter, Jessica Fairchild; mother, Frances Sullivan; father, Clifford Darveaux; sisters, Beverly Morse and Grace Emerfoll.

Survived by children, Lorraine (Jerry) Waller, Lawrence Bahl, Kenneth Bahl, Mary (Michael) Drazan, Jacqueline (Kurt) Jahnke; sisters, Lorraine Theis, Beatrice Husemann; brother; George Darveaux; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Betty was born in St. Paul, MN and was a proud graduate of Monroe High School (Class of 48). Betty, her husband Frank, and children lived in many areas of the Twin Cities; including Little Canada, White Bear Lake, Faribault, Stillwater, and St. Paul. She worked for the State of MN for several years, including in the Commerce and DNR departments. She also worked for Gillette Co. (P & G) and held many part-time jobs after retirement.

Betty loved visiting with her grandchildren and other family members, she enjoyed gardening, White Castle burgers, and KFC Chicken. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, bowling, traveling, going to any casino, Red Hat Ladies (Faribault, Medina, Plymouth) and marching in parades with the VFW Color Guard. She also had a spot in her heart for anyone’s pets. She was a lifelong volunteer and was generous with her time. A few of her volunteer accomplishments were donating many gallons of blood, helping out with the thrift store in Faribault, and past Auxiliary President of So. St Paul VFW Post #295.

A special thank you to the caring staff at Augustana HCC, Hastings for taking such good care of Betty for the past four years.

Burial will be Friday, April 13, Ft. Snelling, area #4, promptly at 11:00 am. Celebration of Life to follow, So. St. Paul VFW Post #295, 111 S. Concord Exchange, So. St. Paul, MN.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be greatly appreciated to Augustana HCC, 930 West 16th St., Hastings, MN 55033 or to an Alzheimer’s chapter or a charity of your choice.
